Hôtel Bristol

About a week ago, I had an opportunity to dine at the Hôtel Bristol, a very expensive and exquisite hotel, located near the Champs-Elysees. I was to meet a very sophisticated musician more on this later because the contract is still in the works ! Let's just say the musician just had an article in Le Figaro amongst other magazines.

As I was walking towards the hotel, I was amazed by the architecture. I mean this was a part of Paris I have never seen. Probably because my fashion sense and wallet are only dream of going to this part !

As I reached the hotel, I felt like a celebrity. And apparently one of the actors that played James Bond was there and I totally missed his entrance !

When I walked in, I went to the bar. First they asked if I had a reservation and I said no I am meeting someone and she told me to wait here. The guy pointed to a table and went there. He pulled out my chair and pushed me in, handed me a menu and then the guy said "Would you like a newspaper ?" And I was like sure and he was like which language French or English, I was said "Choose one and surprise me, I speak both" and he was like no it's your choice. Finally when he wasn't just going to choose one I said English.
the pictures don't do it any justice, but I felt like I was walking into a castly

Then he gave me the menu. Ok first price I saw was 21 € for a virgin cocktail, yes you read that right 21 euros. and I bet you the glass wasn't that big !

This coffee ended up being 9 euros. Ok the water and the cookies were included, but still the coffee tasted the same as the one I posted about the other day. And you don't even want to know how much my vegetarian sandwich ended up costing ! basically an arm and a leg and my first-born child !

It was a great experience and I hope to have a few more occasions like that now and again.

Have you ever stayed in a 5-star Paris hotel ?

Cheese Making

Here are some photos from our first adventure into cheese making. We started off with 55 liters of milk : we gave away 5 liters to some neighbors, I made 5 liters worth of rice pudding, 5 liters of yogurt and the rest 40 liters for cheese ! all for the price of 15 euros !

After the rounds came out, we cut them into squares put sea salt on them and put this in a 5-kilo container with water. So now we have 5-kilos of cheese sitting around, ok well maybe only 2 kilos now because I gave some away and accidently spilled the water the other day, oops!

Picture of the Week : The Circus has come to town

The weather has been really great here between 70's and 80's so Yilmaz and I have gone to the big park a number of times for a picnic or tea time. But, lately we have gone to the small park next to our apartment to drink our afternoon/evening tea. One day we noticed a bunch of red vans and sure enough it was the circus !

We have only seen llamas, ponies and horses for the moment. I am pretty sure they have hid the tigers and lions, I mean I wouldn't want to run into one of those in the middle of the street ! haha !
We aren't sure if we are going to go, I saw the circus when I was little and Yilmaz doesn't seem that interested except to try to feed the horses through the fence.

Have you gone to a circus in France ?

Snow in June ?!?

One day when I was walking to the market, I stumble upon what looks like snow literally in the street.

I had to take a few looks before I realized they were flowers not snow. But how cool is that ?

Coffee Break

It sure has been a while since I wrote last, but that is because I have been so busy working, so many meetings!, spring cleaning and organizing our apartment, aka trying to be superwoman with no time to blog about it. The next few posts are related to these past few weeks.

Time for a Coffee Break :
This is a noisette (hazelnut) - an espresso with a little bit of milk added. But at this specific cafe - Café Sarah Bernhardt, Place de Chatelet, they gave me milk on the side ! Obviously it was way too much milk so I added sugar to the milk and just drank it. I mean I had to get my money's worth !

What's your favorite coffee drink in Paris ?
