Picture of the Week : Monet's Waterlilies

Flowers are starting to bloom in Paris despite the on-and-off cold /warm phase. So I thought it would be appropriate to see another form of flowers that are inspiring no matter what time of year, Monet's waterlilies.

These paintings are found in the Musée de l'Orangerie which is located in the Jardin de Tuileries. Whenever I need a break I like to pop in and get inspired.

Do you feel inspired ?

Picture of the Week : The Louvre

Another sunny one by the Louvre. Look at all those tourists!

Funny story : One day when one of my American friends was visiting, we were sitting in the Jardin de Tuilleries. There were these older American women sitting next to us and one says to the other in a thick-Southern accent, "Come on let's go! I didn't come to Paris to sit around the Garden de Twilleries all day! Let's go to the Champs Elysees (american pronunciation!)."

Tour de France 2011

Yesterday, my husband and I decided to go see the Tour de France yesterday.

We got off and walked along the Seine checking out the Paris Plage ( another post on this soon ), but it was packed so we decided to head over to the Jardin des Tuileries to see the race. But again between Pont des Arts and the Louvre (as seen below) it was packed with people who were eager to see the race.

Finally we found a spot, and we sat there for about an hour, but no sign of the racers or anybody who had a clue when they would arrive. So, we decided to walk near the metro, we found another good spot and the racers sped by 15 minutes later.

Do you have photos from la Tour de France past or present? Don't hesitate to share them!
