The rehearsal of David Fray was good, he is a perfectionist at piano. He is only 29 and a prodigy, plus married to Chiara Muti, the daughter of Ricardo Muti, one of the best conductors in the world. Plus he lives the nice life with his Prada piano sack, and his expensive Italian suit.
He was very particular about his phrasing, the crescendos and the decrescendos etc. Sometimes I felt bad for Emmanuel or Olivia his guests where he tried to get them to play the specific way that was good for him. As if he was his own conductor just like his father-in-law.
Please be more specific about Fray trying to get the others to play the way he wanted. I wonder if he is a genious or simply another good pianist whom Chiara Muti happened to fall in love with.
ReplyDeleteHe is just like any other prodigy musician like Mozart or Lang Lang, he wants the music to played in the manner that sounds good to him. Fray's proposal weren't far-fetched, sometimes adding crescendos or slurs are necessary, because the repertoire doesn't always demand it. During Bach's era, it was the performer's job to add the embellishments that he thought was necessary and what made the piece sound musical.
